Invitation to Schools

The National Tourism Career Expo is scheduled to take place at the Durban Exhibition Centre from 17^th to 19^th September 2009.

The Expo seeks to profile the Tourism sector as a sector offering a “Career of Choice” & The Tourism Private sector as an “Employer of Choice”

The 3 day Programme includes Exhibitors & an intense programme showcasing a mix of “Job seeker” & “Job creator” opportunities:

• Education, training & career options
• Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Tourism job opportunities &
• Entrepreneurs offering products and services to the very lucrative Youth Travel and Education market

Who should attend?

• Learners grade 9-12
• Parents
• Tertiary students
• Out-of-school youth
• Current employees in the sector seeking career advancement
• Trainers
• Educators

The Programme Partners have considered the need for “Matching subsidization” where if Provinces commit to bringing a set number of learners to the Expo, the Partners will consider providing financial support to a maximum limit of funding available.

We invite you to organise your learners to be part of this dynamic programme.Please let us have your confirmation of attendance and participation in the events set out for you and your learners by sending us the following:

1. Confirmation of date of attendance and numbers attending. Our co-ordinators will contact you once they receive this to co-ordinate administration and arrival;
2. Cost of transport and accommodation you have sourced so we are able to look at the “matching subsidisation”;
3. Your interest to have your Province’s schools participate in the Chef’s competition being organised; and
4. Your interest to have your Province participate in the Tourism Debate competition being organised.
